PERSONNEL TRANSFER

Statement of Policy:  Any employee may request a transfer to any other division in the Clerk’s Office as long as there is a vacancy in that division.  The ideal would be a transfer to a vacancy in the employee’s current payment schedule (a lateral).  If this is not possible, the employee, in order to transfer, should consider a voluntary demotion.

Range or band demotions would not affect an employee’s salary if the salary is in the range/band below the employee’s current schedule.  Example:  An employee at a salary of $25,000.00 annually, seeks a transfer to another division that has a vacancy in a lower range/band.  The employee could voluntarily take the demotion and no salary would be lost if the lower range/band has a $25,000.00 figure existing in the range/band.

The employee seeking the transfer should contact the Assistant to the Clerk of the division with the vacancy and request consideration for transfer; if that Assistant agrees with the transfer request then the employee may be transferred.

If there is a job ad pending for the vacancy, the employee should proceed in that manner rather than by transfer.

For transfers outside the Clerk’s office, the employee should contact the County Personnel Department.
